Wildflower ID Workshop
Spend a morning learning the fundamentals of wildflower identification with Citizens United to Protect the Maurice River and Its Associates (CU).
Led by CU Associate Director Renee Brecht, this workshop will feature a presentation at the Vineland Public Library that will explain Newcomb’s key identification system, and will be followed by an outdoor work session at the Willow Oak Natural Area where participants can practice their newfound skills.
We will utilize Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide, an ingenious key written by a layperson, for lay people, which will help participants identify many of our local flowers.
The hands-on, free workshop is open to the public and will take place on Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A presentation will be given at the Vineland Public Library, and then participants will travel to the nearby Willow Oak Natural Area in Vineland to try their hand at identifying local flora.
Participants will need a copy of Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide, available at Bogart’s Books in Millville, as well as other bookstores, and also at Amazon.com.
Preregistration required. To register, contact Renee Brecht at 856 305-3238.
The workshop is offered in partnership with the Vineland Public Library and the Vineland Environmental Committee.
