Misc. The most common pine species of the N.J. Pine Barrens, readily distinguished from shortleaf pine (P. echinata) and Virginia pine (P. virginiana) by its longer needles (3 in bundle) and larger cones. 

Growth rapid, about one foot a year for first 50-60 years.
